Used this on multiple training trips on the CDT this Summer. Works on both short & tall Smartwater-style bottles.
Build quality is great, super light and send durable. On one pack I had issues installing because the webbing didn't fit through the buckle, on the other pack installation took minutes. I have to take off one star because of the size of the pocket opening; while it fits a Smart Water bottle perfectly, my BeFree filter won't slide in when full. The triangular shape doesn't seat well inside the pocket. If the mouth was just a little wider to accommodate a variety of filter bottles (or if you use the Sawyer) then this pocket is great!
to small for a 1 lit bottom
Fit and finish is great on these strap pockets, some of the best I’ve seen. They fit my 500ml soft flasks perfectly. The cinch is appreciated. Installation is no problem — just sliced the threads and stitched back up. Not a big deal with the benefit of having a securely attached pocket. Worth it for the function.
Picked this up for a backpacking trip I to the Grand Canyon. Too small to carry a 1 liter Smart Water bottle. Held the 700 ml bottle fine. The elastic straps that secure it to the shoulder strap will not last long term and will end up stretching out over time. I was able to attach the top clip to a loop on my pack which held it in place, but because it was non adjustable it rode too high. Probably ok for short term use but not robust as a quality back country accessory.
