perfect cold weather base layer. Ive used this many times winter camping

Winter in the northwest means boots. Having to take off and then lace up wet boots to don and doff a layer sucks, these fix that problem for me.

Dragonwool Zipoff thermals are the neatest thing since sliced bread! Have it on early when it's cold. As your body and the day warm up, drop your pants and remove the thermal without having to remove your shoes and socks. When you cool off you can use the reverse to put it back on. What could be better. The Dragonwool fabric is also great. Keeps you warm and dry with a great moisture management system. Check it out................

I love the convenience of having the ability to remove the thermals when things warm up and I don't have to remove boots etc.

These were exactly what i'v been looking for for the last 6 years. I hike and camp with a boy Scouts BSA Troop. I normally sleep in my clothes because I'm surrounded by teenage boys. But I also sleep supper cold; 10degree quilt all year. With these I can slip these on or off without worry. I just used them on a backpacking trip 42 degrees and for once I didn't wake up shivering. I'm 5'3" 125lb female and used xs perfect fit.

I have only tried them on and worn them around town one day. Like many reviews the request to review came far too early, so I can’t give a thorough report. The product looks very well built, and the fit at the waist was perfect, but the ankles are a bit loose for my taste. I’m sure they will be fine

Can’t wait to wear them in the fall. They are awesome. They fit great.

I like the that i can easily take the off when it gets warm enough without having to take my shoes and shorts off. Works for putting on also

Still waiting (16 days later). Vitals probably shouldn't email customers asking for a review when they're still waiting after 16 days. Maybe the wagon wheel came off? My review could change once the pony express arrives.

I'm very happy with this product. I have hunting boots that are cumbersome to get in and out of these are so easy to take off and on. Haven't used them skiing yet but I feel they will provide a real advantages and comfort. I have not noticed any drafting at the zipper.

To cumbersome. Tried different sizes. Good concept but didnt work for me.

I've been looking for thermal pants that have these zippers because taking off everything to remove a layer or add a layer while hiking/backpacking is very annoying and can introduce you to wet socks or dirty feet as well as losing some warmth. The initial packaging and box was very professional and I wasn't quite expecting it at first and thought I had been sent something else that I didn't order. I ordered the gray color and it keeps a good subdued feel while not being another black base layer. The stitching and craftsmanship is very tidy and I had no immediate issues that I could notice. The zippers are positioned at the bottom of the pant which I thought would be annoying but overall was more of a benefit when putting on the pant. With this being a 3/4 design (better for use in my opinion) you don't have to worry about that zipper being in a high boot or getting tangled/tucked into a sock for irritation. Zipping and unzipping the pant was easy enough once you understood how to hold it and match up the ends while standing with your outer layer pants around your ankles. Hiking was comfortable and they regulated temperature well. Sleeping was slightly less comfortable because I'm a side sleeper and I felt the zipper on my leg at one point or another but that's more user error. I wore these for a camping/hiking weekend with temperatures between 50F-20F. Overall if you're looking for a decent base layer, I would make this as a suggestion.

These were not as warm as I'd hoped they'd be. They are very comfortable, I like the fabric and the side zips are very convenient for putting them on and off without having to take off my shoes, however when standing around in them in 30 degree weather under a pair of softshell pants I found my legs getting cold, which was disappointing. I didn't wear them while hiking, I find that pretty much anything above 15 degrees or so my legs stay warm enough with just the pants as long as I'm moving, but I was hoping they were something I could put on once I got to camp and keep me warm while standing around. At 30 degrees that was not the case. People have different cold tolerances; they could be an option if you are someone who does need a base layer to wear under your pants while hiking in the cold but I'd say if you're going to be standing around in anything under 40 degrees you may want something warmer than this.

Comfortable if you get the size correct. Surprisingly I do not feel the zippers while wearing, the snug ankles and waist keep them from shifting around.

Hey make sure to check the features and technology, not just the description and the title because it's a 3/4 length and if your looking for a full length and want to return it they'll charge you $10 to return it. Honestly this company should put that in the title because it's out of the ordinary and unlike their other leggings. And they fit pretty weird as well. Tight in the waist and lose everywhere else. The size listed for inseam and waist are wrong

OV always ships out quickly. I received these in only 3-4 days from date of ordering. These zip off base layers are warm, comfortable and soft. It is very convenient to put them on and remove them without having to remove your shoes or boots. Only tricky thing is that on one side the zipper connection is covered up by the cloth so it takes a bit to get the zipper started on that side. It's not a deal breaker, just takes getting used to. In spite of this, I would highly recommend these.

I purchased the DragonWool zip-off bottoms and while they are very warm, they are very snug at the waist while loose fitting elsewhere. Once you zip them off, they are really challenging to zip back on because the waist is so snug. I do not use these for hiking in because they are not super light and they bunch up. Instead, I use them for sleeping in for car-camping which is perfect.

I really like this product, If I could change one thing I would use a left and right side zippers, The one side is difficult to get started, Besides that you hit the nail on the head with this one

Bought these for hiking and they’re pretty horrible. They’re tight around my waist yet baggy and floppy everywhere else. The crouch bunches up in a way that almost makes them unwearable. Definitely the worst pair of thermal bottoms I’ve ever worn.

I picked these up to get ready for to hike the Camino de Santiago coming up in November this year. Right out box (bag LOL) I was floored on how great they felt. I hiked about 5 or 6 miles just messing around for 3 days to see how they would feel before I hit Spain. I had them on with pants and shorts and as my pJ bottoms. Bottom line is they feel great and are wonderful at regulating body temp.

Originally ordered 3xl based of the recommendation and they were way to lose to wear hiking. I liked them so much that when I got home I ordered a pair of 2xl and they fit perfect. Wore them under some light pants and stayed warm all day in 20 degree temps. I kept the 3xl and I use them as my bedtime pants since the are loose and I don't like to wear normal long johns when I'm sleeping. Woke up in the AM and it was super cold so just threw my rain pants over them while getting breakfast cooked and camp packed it they kept me warm and they were comfortable. I will recommend these to anyone that is looking.

I'm 6'2" and 285ish pounds. I ordered the 3xl based off the size chart but they were a little loose on me. On 2/10/22 I hiked up to Lake 22 in Washington State and there was a lot of snow. I didn't bring anything to sit on so when I sat in the snow the only layers I had were my pants, the dragon wool zipoffs, and my underwear. I was able to sit for about an hour with no issues. I was never cold. The only issue I had was keeping them up while I was hiking. I have no butt so if things are loose around my waist they slip off easily. What i loved was I'm usually overly warm but these pants kept my legs at the perfect temperature. Legs were never cold and my ass nor legs ever sweated. I thought about returning them but instead I bought another pair but ordered 2xl, I'll use the 3xl for sleeping pants. So far I have loved every product I have ordered.

The DragonWool pants worked great for sleeping in. Woke up and put pants on over them. Easy to take off when warmed up on the trail. The only con I can think of is one zipper is easier to detach at the waist. The other is a bit more difficult because of the way the flap was made (should be reversed).

I wore these leggings on a long hike with a heavy pack in 37 degree weather with a wind chill between 27 and 29 degrees. The wind was 12 mph from the NW. I was also wearing the new DragoonWool briefs, and the Satu pants. These leggings performed just like Outdoor Vitals said they would. They kept my legs warm with no sweat, and with no bunching under the Satu pants or over the DragonWool briefs. I was amazed that my legs did not sweat at all. Usually, no matter what kind of leggings I wear in the winter, even very light leggings, my legs overheat towards the end of the hike and sweat somewhat. They did not this time.
These leggings also had an amazing fit in that I did not feel as if I was wearing two layers on my legs. I highly recommend them for winter hiking.

Just got back from a short day hike wearing these leggings. Weather was 32 degrees and breezy. With these on and the Satu pants, my legs were comfortable the entire time. Wind did not bother me at all. I don't think I had any sweat develop on my lower body, but if it did then it dissipated quickly. After walking for a bit, I opened the vents on the Satus, which noticeably cooled my legs while I was walking to help prevent any sweating.

Fit is good. I ordered men's medium, which fit me well. I typically wear a 32x32 pant size. The elastic waistband is comfortable and kept the leggings in place. The zip-off function works as advertised, and there are little zipper covers at the waist to keep the zipper there from being uncomfortable, a nice touch. The fabric is soft and comfortable against my skin.

This is a very early review, but I am excited to use these leggings in all sorts of weather conditions and see how well they hold up.
