Are the Satu Adventure Pants good for both hiking and everyday wear?

They use a modern cut, clean styling, and performance fabric so you can hike, backpack, travel, or wear them around town without needing separate pants for each situation.

Are the Satu Adventure Pants breathable enough for warm-weather hiking?

Ventilation+

The ventilation on the legs was the main draw for me to these pants, but the pockets and draw string cuffs seal the deal. These are great sturdy pants for the trail, I’ve been very pleased with them.

Rugged, Functional, Stylish around Town and Kick Ass in the Mountains!

I lean towards a Zen-ish lifestyle and have trained myself to only purchase what I love and truly need, with the exception of 5 pairs of Satu Pants and Shorts and too many Running Shoes to mention (78 y.o. Ultra Runner, that works part time in a Running Store). The threads look good, fit well and hold up, in very challenging terrain!

1) My wife loves the way these pants look on me.

1) My wife loves the way these pants look on me, so much he insisted I buy two more pairs for myself, (and for her) once we figured out the sizes. READ AND HEED THE SIZE CHART,

2) I ride an adaptive recumbent trike and they are the perfect recumbent pants. Low profile back pockets, angled zipper side pocket, the ability to cinch the hems closed and stop drafts from migrating up your legs, and prevent chain stains.

Originally great but then…

I’ve had 3 pairs of these after buying the original release on kickstarter, wearing them to destruction for about 3 years and then buying 2 further sets. The fabric is great, they’re comfortable and can work when wearing them to work, hiking, socially etc.

The problem is the zips on the leg vents. Both of the last 2 pairs of trousers had zips that failed in the same place under minimal stress when they weren’t in use and couldn’t be replaced under warranty or repaired for less than $40 plus shipping. I’d not even opened the zips, the pockets weren’t stuffed (just a small wallet and a pair of keys) and as much as I wish I had thighs like Schwarzenegger, I’ve skipped leg day for the last 40 years… It’s a real shame, as I’d pay a decent price for these pants if they were as durable as the original pair that I bought, but these just aren’t it any more. I don’t know if the manufacturer of the zips or pants has changed, but unfortunately the quality just isn’t there any more. If they produced these without the air vents I’d buy another pair tomorrow, but unfortunately while this is still an issue I can’t justify spending the money if they’re going to break inside a couple of months.

Superior Performance In the Satu Pants

Test the value and performance of the Satu Pants, I wore them for 20 days straight. Hiking, climbing and cross country skiing along the Wasatch Mountains of Norther Utah. I found these pants to be superior in comfort, design and functionality to other-four way stretch adventure pants. The material and cut offered excellent mobility. They were comfortable in temperatures ranging from 30o to 60o. Repelled water and were quick drying. I found them to be a high performance and bullet proof piece of gear for the outdoorsman.

Seriously Awesome

These pants are great! Comfortable but durable with quality stitching and cuts that make them feel good on trail but you can wear them in the office too. The adjustable waist strap and cuff cordage make them fit even better. The big star is the vents that are hidden when not in use but open up for a nice breeze when you get too warm - this prevents swampy grossness as well as chafing. utdoor Vitals has knocked it out of the park again!

Don't wait. Buy these pants now!

You won't regret purchasing the Satu Adventure Pants. I started with one pair and after wearing them for the first time, I immediately bought another. I'm about to by a third to have all three colors.

I'm wearing a pair right now as I sit in a London hotel on a business trip, taking a moment during breakfast to write this review before going to the office. I was in Tel Aviv last week. These pants have been great in airports, fights, office, walking around Tel Aviv and London. The comfort and fit are unmatched. So comfortable! When walking to the beach in Tel Aviv, I was glad to have the two zippered vents. Then equally as glad to be wearing them as I walk to the London office on a brisk and misty day.

You can dress these pants up or down. Equally as good with a t-shirt and tennis shoes as with a polo and office lace-ups. Can't wait to try these out on the trail.

Not for warm weather IMO

The fabric is luxurious but heavy. Not a typical nylon backpacking pant feel (they are polyester); thus they are warm. I do not think that OV makes it clear enough that these are not for warm weather (anything above 70 degrees, especially if backpacking, IMO).
The zip pocket that could be great for a phone is not great for a phone because the phone hits your knee cap when walking.

I Love These Pants!

The fabric has just the right amount of stretch to enable climbing long trails or scrambling over talus. The fabric isn't super breathable giving an added layer of protection at altitude or cool morning - perfect for my Sierra mornings and evenings. It also dries SUPER fast. Like crazy fast! Pockets are solid. I especially like the zippered pocket on the right leg. I'm not a big fan of the flaps that cover the rear pockets but I rarely use those when backpacking so not a big deal for me. Fit is true to size for me.

Great do All pants. 1 slight issue.

Absolutely love these pants! I was looking for a good pair of everyday pants that can be used for multiple purposes (backpacking, dress, shooting, airplane, etc.). I wanted a pair I'm not afraid to get dirty, and are able to hold up outdoors. I started with a pair in the charcoal color. I'm tall and lanky, so I ordered a waist size of 28 and a length of 34. Typically I would order a length of 32, but I was afraid it might shrink in the wash. I can confirm now that these do not shrink after multiple washes, and I do like having the extra length to be able to cover my ankles more when I'm sitting around the campfire.

The only downside I have found with the pants is the zipper fly. I have 2 pairs of these pants now, and both have had trouble with the zipper fly where it will open whenever I have sat down for long periods of time. The zipper itself glides smoothly, and I think that is the issue. I'm not sure what the vocab is to describe it, but the teeth do not have a lot of resistance, and give way easily as you're walking and going to sit down (if that makes sense). Not a huge deal, but something I noticed.

Other than that, I will warn anyone who takes these out to avoid burrs. I went out one time and quickly found that the bushes with burrs will stick to the fabric very quickly and in large quantities. Best way I found to get them off is by scraping the edge of a blade along the fabric to help lift up the seeds, and use tweezers to get the big ones.

Other than that, highly recommend and worth every penny!

Comfortable and durable

I bought the pants out of a whim because I wanted to try different types of pants for hiking and backpacking. I usually wear tech pants, and the pants are usually good but after a few outings the pants are not as durable. Initially the pants material seems thick and can be warm, but it is deceptive. The pants are very comfortable, and the ventilation pocket helps with warmer climate. The only negative I have, and it is due to buyer error, I bought a size too big, but I don’t regret the purchase. I really like the pants and I’m going to purchase another pair, of the right size. 😊

Just wore these on a 50 mile multi day backpacking trip on the Southern Appalachian Trail. They were perfect for the spring temperatures. Comfortable, rugged, and damn good looking, I’m going to check out the shorts.

Great features missed on the sizing

Needs a loose fit. Tight in the legs, but great pants otherwise.

Great Pants! Need more colors available in 32x36.

Comfortable and durable and they're actually long enough to fit my long legs (6'5 total height). The only gripe I have is that there doesn't appear to have been a restocking of the different colors since I initially purchased the greens back in July/August of 2025. Would LOVE a grey or tan pair in 32x36 if anyone at Outdoor Vitals can help a tall fella out....

Love the pants

Love the pants. The inseam is perfect for me I like longer pants but when I buy 34 inseam the paints are always to long in the inseam area but a good length so I have to get my pants tailored. These pants fit perfect will be buying more my new favorite pants.

My Favorite Pants!

I got my first two pairs of the Satu pants in August of 2022 and they have become my favorite pants, hands down. So much so that I bought three more pairs a few weeks ago. I love that they're 100% polyester Japanese technical fabric. They dry SO fast due to them having no spandex to hold onto moisture. The pants have not pilled whatsoever in the four years I've had them, even though I expect a lot out of them. They look a little more "fuzzy", but no pilling at all. I do a lot of backpack hunting and camping in the Colorado backcountry. The temperature fluctuations depending on the season can be extreme throughout the day. I love that I can wear a pair of zip off merino base layers underneath in the morning when it's cold or when I'm glassing, then take off the base layers and dump heat with the thigh vents when I'm on a stalk or covering ground quickly. They're thick enough in the later season hunts where I can layer up underneath with a base layer and alpha direct mid layer and be plenty warm when on the move. But also thin enough to wear in the hot summer months, especially with the thigh vents. Very well thought out, technical piece of gear that outshines ALOT of the hunting and backpacking gear out there without breaking the bank. I have a lot of other pieces of gear from Outdoor Vitals and everyone of them has outperformed alot of other gear I bought before discovering them. Great pants, I just hope they don't discontinue them after coming out with their new Altura pants. They seem to be very well made as well but I'll stick with the Satu pants due to them not having any spandex in the blend.

Tough material and flexible

Material is tough enough to resist the trail, yet maintains flexibility that I don't feel restricted in them. I also like the cell phone pocket on the leg, its perfect :-)

Satu pants

These pants are heavier than I expected. The legs are tapered and I found them difficult to remove. They do stretch well and I feel that they will be good for hiking and backpacking.

Great fitting waterproof pants

I wore these over a 40 mile weekend in Kentucky and stayed drive the whole time. The side vents are an awesome feature. The pants are not as lightweight as expected, but its a bonus for the water resistance and durability. Great product!

My go to Pants for the last 5 years

I kickstarted these pants way back in 2020 and they have been my favorite pant’s since then.I typically use them as light work pants. I’m an aircraft mechanic that lives in the African rainforest and these pants offer a great mix of durability, flexibility and ventilation.
