Men's Satu Adventure Pants (Waist Sizes 40, 43, and 46)

The Satu pants are awesome. Comfortable and ready to wear for days. My issue had to do with quality control. I liked my first pair so much I ordered a second pair the same size, different color. The fit was significantly smaller, which was very disappointing as I assumed the sizing would be consistent regardless of color.

I just got these for a pair of hiking pants but I was invited to the company Christmas party and decided to wear them. I think I looked pretty good

Fitting, before testing:

I wear a waist size 40-42 and while size 38 was recommended, I opted to size up to 43 (thanks to a reviewer) and it fits well, albeit perhaps slightly too big.

I would say they're true to size from this experience, although I can't say the same for my other purchases.

Fits well, item as advertised

The pants are wonderful though since they ride at the hip, I ordered them too big. For some reason Outdoor Vitals would not exchange them. I tried to exchange them but the website would not allow it within 14 days. I guess I will have to make do.

These are my new favorite pants for backpacking. I took them on a recent trip to Kings Peak and due to temperatures was debating pants vs shorts for the trip. I decided to go with pants given the recent stories of mosquitoes being so bad and I was glad I did for the extra protection they provided. Best part was I didn’t feel like I was hot or overheating. The side vents helped when needed and the pockets seemed to be good sized and well placed. Highly recommend.

My go to hiking pants. Outdoor Vitals just a great company with outstanding gear

The pants are outstanding - I love everything about them. The fabric, the build, the pockets, the comfort, the versatility, you name it, these are A+ pants.

My issue though, and it's not just with these pants, it's with Outdoor Vitals sizing in general. I've learned that in cottage companies you really need to take their size charts as a true guide - except outdoor vitals. I am 5' 10", 240.. stocky build, muscular, some extra fat but not extreme... I'm in pretty good shape for my size.

Anyway, in most every other outdoor gear company (Outdoor Research, Patagonia, REI, North Face, pretty much all of them etc..) I wear size XL.. But with Outdoor Vitals, I wear size XXL or even XXXL in their jackets, shirts, etc. The XL sizing is way too small. Like a size M or L in those other brands.

Anyway, the Satu pants. Judging by OV's sizing in other items, by using the same measurements on my body that I do on the other sizing charts, the Satu pants say I need a size 43-44. That's insane. I wear a size 36 pant in virtually every other brand. I took a gamble, and ordered the size 40. Turns out, it's a little loose. So, my 43 inch belt line is really a size 38 in these Satu pants.

I just don't understand OV's size charts, and their inconsistency between their products, and extreme sizing differences compared to mainstream brands.

Outstanding fit and quality . Very comfortable while hiking or out and about around town . Outdoor vitals hit out of the park with this bit of kit/ daily wear .

These pants are lightweight, comfortable, durable and fit perfectly using the provided fitting tool. I was worried they might be a little too big based on my normal sizing but was pleasantly surprised. I will be ordering these again!

Great comfort and fit.

Best pants I own for any activity. Light and stretch very well. The waist isn’t too high and rides on the hips perfectly. Ditched my belt due to the adjustable strap. Zippered pockets function well and the side vents are handy. First pant I’ve owned that feel like they were designed for my body. I bought 1pr and immediately purchased one more after two walks in them👍🏻👍🏻

I have worn these pants since they were first offered, in fact I have worn the same pair every week since they were first offered. They look brand new, have only gotten softer, and are more comfortable than any pair of jeans I can think of. They wear like iron, even when oil was spilled on them a few years back when I just knew that a huge stain would remain. A few runs through the washer and no stain remained.
Use a washer without an agitator and mine have only been air dried - never in a dryer. I figure since they are performance pants that dry fast in the outdoors, they can do the same in daily wear. So far that has been a winning combination.
These are without a doubt my most used OV item and one of my favorites.

Bought one pair for an extended trip. After wearing them around, bought a second pair. They’ve become my daily wear pants. Love the fit and the way they look (can get away with in business meetings). Light, cool, stretchy. Love the pockets. Thanks!

These are hands-down the best pants (and shorts) on the planet! When the aliens come, they will be so amazed by this product that they will steal the technology and take it back to their home planet which, will raise the motivations of their explorers so much that they will set out and successfully take over the entire universe. Please keep providing them in size 40 waist though. Discontinuing will be a detriment to our civilization.

I am a repeat customer when it comes to the Satu pants. I have worn them for years. I have multiple pairs in my closet because they are great to wear outside for work and adventure, but I can also rely on them looking good with a shirt and tie for business casual. They are durable, wash well and maintain their appearance for a very long time. My only complaint is the pocket designed for the cell phone. I personally do not find it a comfortable or convenient place for a cell phone, but that is not enough to not give these pants 5 stars.

Great for wear in office

It had a nice fit. Would be great for fall winter seasons.

I just bought my 3rd pair. I wear them frequently for casual/every day and hiking. They hold up well and are not stretching out. I wear them to church as well as to work (dog trainer). For hiking I have loved the venting. Ticks are bad this year so I cant wear shorts around here. The pants with huge side vents are a perfect compromise. They keep my upper legs cool and dry. I also love the built in belt. My weight has fluctuated a lot and the belt helps keep these pants fitting right.

I'm not much for posting reviews and only review anything after time spent using the product. I found a neat feature on this product I like to share with you. Have to give you a little back story first. My perfect pant size for legs is 28 I can never find pants in the size. Even with these pants they have it advertised but never in. I usually give up trying to find the 28 and go to 30 (then modify) and that's exactly what I've had to do over the years with countless pants. Anyone who wears too long pants knows that the back of the pants will always drag on the ground. It's first to fray away. The bungie system on the bottom of the pants prevents that on these pants. I know that's not what it's intended for, but when I'm relaxing and taking my shoes off, that simple system stops it. I know this is something small but this is the quality of the product. With these pants, I am glad that they're 2 in longer. That extra length works well to wrap around my shoes. The simple bungee trick ought to be added to every hiking pants. Very comfortable pants. I love the deep front pockets and how they're set up. Only problem I have is with the very small zipper pull tags on the side of the pants. I understand why it's small my preference make them a little bigger. But when you're out hiking you need to quickly pull them down or pull them up. Got to pay a little closer attention I guess if you're very dexterous, shouldn't have to worry about this. I've had a few people actually ask me where these pants are from and they just look comfortable. It's just unusual for me to have people I don't know. Ask me on something I'm wearing. They are comfortable. Last I wanted to say I never give five stars on anything definitely a solid 4.5.

Having large linebacker legs the pants are a little more form fitting around the upper leg than I would prefer, but with the vents open there is more than enough room to let things breathe in the warmer months.

Hopefully in future versions there will be options for reinforced waterproof/wear proof patches on the knees and backside.

The pocket flaps on the back pockets could probably just be removed if a backside reinforcement was added.

Would also be great to see future versions with zip off legs where the zipper is protected from making contact with the legs by extra material on the upper side. most people get this wrong.

Overall nice light and fast drying pants. Definitely plan on buying another pair after my next trip.

On advice of customer service I ordered these a size larger 1" larger than I normal wear. When they arrived I quickly just tried them on and they were way too large, like 3 inches too large. I quickly obtained a return label and sent them in the same day. They arrived at Outdoor vitals within 2 days, and I got an email saying it would be 2-3 weeks before they could inspect them make a determination and or replace them. I called support, and they said there weas nothing they could do to speed up the return process and if I was interested in makeing sure I got the pants I wanted I should place another order until a credit could be issued. This is not a quality issue but its certainly not good customer service.

Fit was good for me. Crotch may be a bit shallow.
