Shadowlight- named for its ultra lightweight and how well it rides on your back. Due to its geometry and weight, it feels like you’re carrying a shadow on your back rather than a heavy backpack.
The ShadowLight™ Ultralight backpack brings a new meaning to "ultralight backpacking". No longer do you have to sacrifice everything to get below a 2 lb pack weight! No more carrying a tube or duffle bag on your back just to shave some weight.
Utilizing our own special Spectra / Robic ripstop fabric we were able to cut incredible weights while retaining top of industry durability and strength! From there we added a 24 inch frame to transfer the load from your shoulders to your hips for ultimate comfort when your load creeps up in weight whether it be a long water carry, winter trips, or helping others split a load!
The modular design allows you to remove the frame and remove your hip belt to fit the weight and goals of your trip. Plus you can easily remove the back panel to utilize as a sit pad!
Perhaps the most important part of the pack is the organization and access we have been able to provide while remaining under 2lbs! Full-length zipper gives you access to the entirety of your pack without unloading everything! 2 Large mesh pockets capable of fitting a 2 person tent in one side gives you a great flex space or area to store wet gear! Outside water bottle pockets can hold up to 2.5 Liters of water in each pocket, while higher organization pockets keep critical items separate and close at hand. Large hip belts are great for storing snacks, repellants, flashlights, sunscreens and more!
The adjustable roll-top gives you the ability to expand or contract the size of the pack to give you amazing customization along with the organization features!
Start experiencing the outdoors more light and comfortable now with the newest game-changing backpack available! No more compromising, no more heavy packs!

I purchased the Shadowlight primarily for winter backpacking trips as I go frameless most of the three seasons trips. I used the Shadowlight four times. On my last trip I was on the Black Forest trail when the frame stays poked through the bottoms of the pack.
This was alarming. My loadout was 29 LBS total weight and the pack had been carrying well. I was enjoying the hike. On the second day I began hiking when I felt the pack shirt awkwardly. I stopped and noticed the frame was protruding through the bottom of the pack. It began to allow the pack to shift causing an uncomfortable carry. I tried to make on the field repairs but but nothing held. I was forced to abandon my trip.
Not all was.lost as I go on lots of trips but never with the Shadowlight again.
The water bottle pockets suck too, especially when the pack is full. The material seems nice and durable until the frame pokes though. The center zipper was also gimmicky and impractical outside arrid climates.
This was for my wife. I have the larger one. After a section hike on the AT ,she was hooked on mine. Now we are both happy.
Great
I just got the lightweight backpack, sleeping bag and hoodie and I am beyond stoked on their products. Lightweight, durable, and all very functional for my needs. I HIGHLY recommend Outdoor Vitals products!!
The four of us hiked 6 miles with around 1700 feet elevation. My weight minus water was 18 pounds. I have been doing large amounts of hiking over the last 10 years. The shadowlight is my 5th backpack over those years. Honestly, I was forgetting I had a pack on. I was not constantly adjusting the straps. It fit like a glove. This is my favorite pack. It was only a 12 mile round trip. But I'm looking forward to larger number of miles to use this pack again. We'll done outdoor vitals. And great price.
