Nebo Windbreaker

I spent a 30 day adventure at Glacier, Grand Tetons, Wind River Range and Yellowstone. Brought the Nebo on long day hikes and a 5 day backpacking trip to Cirque of The Towers. Use it over a tee shirt, base layer and as a rain jacket. It was my most useful and versatile piece of gear in the backcountry. Also, wore it around town in Jackson Hole. I love this jacket!

The Nebo Windbreaker kept me warm and dry on The Mist Trail. Dried out quickly and didn’t overheat with it on the way up to Nevada Falls. Temps were in the mid 50s and partly cloudy.

Size large fits great, I’m 5’9, 175 pounds and wear size large shirts.

This is the perfect piece to take with me while I’m out kayaking, especially an open water where it’s windy. I do a lot of kayak camping and Kayak fishing tournaments and this windbreaker is so light and packs down so tiny but yet super effective. Pair it with the OV sun hoodie and the Ventus hoodie and you’re good to go. These 3 pieces have become a staple for when I’m out on Kayak. Now that I have it, I can also bring it backpacking with me if the situation calls for it. If you do a lot of kayaking, whether it’s camping or fishing in tournaments, you can’t go wrong with With the OV windbreaker

I've come around to believe that its worth owning both raincoat and windbreaker. If the forecast is for little or no chance of rain, I'll go with this windbreaker. Otherwise their UL raincoat goes in. Both are light, but the windbreaker has the advantage of being a bit lighter, packing smaller, and most importantly it breaths well despite keeping wind out.

I live near the OV store and so I went in and tried on the jacket. Athletic sizing seems about right; I typically by a large if I lean toward tighter fit or XL if looser. I opted for the XL so that a base layer and wool vest could fit underneath and yet not have much wind flap. There is a slight bit of stretch to the fabric and that helps if the fit is on the tighter side. The hood, cuffs, and waist elastic seem good for now; time will tell how long it takes for it to stretch out.

I've used it for 3 short windy day hikes and 3 rides in the few weeks I've owned it. Its best quality is that it easily fits into your pack, even a small fanny pack or bike bag, and gives you quite a bit of protection from wind and cool temps. Best use so far is putting it on for big downhill descents on the bike after getting hot and sweaty on the climb. See photo below, XL jacket fits in brown feed bag next to large bike bottle.

Fantastic multi-use windshirt! Air-permeability rating of 20CFM works well for most situations. I have used the shirt around town, while cycling, hiking and most notably, skied Norway end-to-end with it on every day!

The Nebo breathes great, blocks enough wind, and when wind gets too extreme way below freezing, just throw on the Tushar shell jacket as well. 95% of days I was fine with just the tushar, and one layer underneath most days, occasionally two layers.

On a winter tour the large front pocket is a great feature, and it allowed me to keep my storm mask, extra mittens, snacks or ski wax in there handy.

What's best, after 82 days with a 23-33 lbs backpack on, the jacket looks like it's almost new. What surprised me the most, was that the thumb loops held up to the abrasion against ski pole handles through all 1650 miles. The loops made it that much easier to pull some mittens over my liner gloves, and not have to adjust the wrist. And I used to hate any thumb loops because I thought they were uncomfortable. Not the case with Nebo!

This windshirt will have many more adventures coming its way. Definitely my favourite wind jacket this far!

Picked this up as a springtime Ventus alternative and it worked great! Cold morning, hot days are tough to navigate but the Nebo kept me surprisingly warm and still wicked the sweat away as we got going. Kept some drizzle off on another trip and is way easier to pack than the full raincoat/ventus, this thing just hides in your pack!

I was a little skeptical about purchasing this jacket. I have plenty of other jackets that are waterproof and wind proof, my only objection to those jackets is that I will be just as wet from wearing them on a hike in the rain as I would be if I just hiked without one. This jacket though…wow, just climbed up Skafell Pike in England. It was the perfect weight and has great breathability. Would highly recommend for an active outer layer. Also sheds quite a bit of rain for not being waterproof. Picture is from the summit, no views today.

Versatile jacket that you can use most of the year

This windbreaker is perfect for windy days. It keeps the wind out and provides some warmth if needed. It is very light weight and fits great. Another winner for Outdoor Virals.

Great piece of gear, adds just a little warmth when you need it but is also great at blocking out wind chill. Great for the beach and other windy spots but also packs down small and weighs very little. Cut is a little less athletic then many other pieces from OV (in a good way) and the quality feels phenomenal

I love my jacket as it is ultralight and package. Great for my hking trips overseas. The price is unbeatable.

Nice for those cool days where you want a little wind block but avoid sweating!

Wasn't sure I needed a windbreaker, but bought the Nebo anyway. Well, it is now my favorite layering piece. I love it so much I use it for everyday wear, and just bought another to keep for hiking. Previously had a Kuhl windshirt and the Patagonia Houdini, but they felt like wearing a garbage bag. Sticky nylon and crinkly. Not the Nebo, this is soft and not sticky at all, and still super lightweight. Can't say enough, fantastic piece!

Very simple, but nice wind breaker. Could use more features and a little lower price tag.

This is a perfect addition for outdoor adventures. It is extremely light to carry and great for days when it is windy or a bit chilly. It folds up very small and is easy to pack. It has shown no signs of wear and has performed better than expected after dozens of uses.

Always in my pack, weighs nothing. Blocks the wind really well, love it!

Got it out from it first hike the other day and the wind was whipping through, stoped for ouch and put it on it was like putting on a heater. I was warm in no time, amazing. I mean just like that and I was warm I have definitely fallen down the outdoor vitals rabbit hole. Can’t wait to buy my next piece of great gear….thanks to the team Bob

I wear this all the time, It is my new fav jacket for cool/windy days. I don't like heavy hoodies or coats.

Motivation to loss weight

Just got it in the mail today, I used the size chart and the recommended sizing, unforunately it wasn't big enough for me. I can technically zip it up, but I definitely don't think I could walk or hike with it until I loss some weight, sadly. It will need to stay put up until I drop another 20 pounds, I am 350 now, used to be over 400lbs with a big gut and a board chest. No fault of the company, just will use this as motivation to loss some more weight before I can zip it up comfortably and hike with it.

I like the material and the thumb loops. It's cool how I can wrap the whole thing up into the hood.

Material feels breathable with a nice touch of water resistance. Durable enough to not tear easily. Highly recommend.

Fits perfectly, blocks wind. What else do you need? Ok maybe wouldn't mind a couple hand pockets, but most windbreakers don't have them.

I wore this windbreaker on the summit of Mt. Adams, and paired with just a sun hoodie it kept me very comfortable. Weighing nothing, it's never leaving my pack. Looking forward to many other outings.

I've had the opportunity to use this piece as an outer shell, and as a mid-layer. Yes, it's a 20D nylon, but it's not like anything that I've worn before. They did an amazing job with this material! They explain it way better than I ever could in their podcast. If you've never been impressed with windbreakers, I think this could change your mind. Lightweight, packable, and the versatility that it offers, makes it an essential part of my outdoor kit. I reach for it way more than I thought I would. Thanks OV
