Your Altitude Hoodie or Tee is a high performance piece of gear. It needs some extra attention to keep it performing at the highest level.

Please read through the care instructions below to ensure that you care for it properly:

Before Washing

• Never wash your Altitude in a washing machine that has an agitator.
• If you cannot follow the prior instructions you should hand wash your product

The Wash & Dry Process

1. Use mild detergent like Dreft (for babies) or Nikwax Tech Wash (for technical gear).
2. Choose Low Spin or Delicate wash.
3. Choose Cold Wash & Cold Rinse (add extra rinse if possible).
4. Hang dry until the product is completely dry.

The UPF rating is inconclusive because the fabric is very light and thin, making it difficult to test reliably. The hoodie is designed for blocking sun and has been tested extensively in high-elevation sunlight throughout the Rockies with no sunburns.

The Altitude Sun Hoodie is designed to help protect your skin from direct sun exposure by covering your arms, torso, neck, and head with lightweight fabric. It has been extensively tested in exposed environments throughout the Rockies for extended periods of time with no sunburns.

No synthetic hoodie is completely odor-proof. The Altitude Sun Hoodie is designed to resist odor better than standard synthetic layers, but it can still develop odor over time depending on sweat, trip length, weather, and how often it is washed.

Yes. The Altitude Sun Hoodie is a strong choice for backpacking, especially for ultralight backpacking, thru-hiking, desert routes, alpine travel, and exposed trails. At around 4 oz, it is designed to replace a standard hiking shirt with a more technical layer that provides sun coverage, moisture management, breathability, and odor resistance.

The Outdoor Vitals Altitude Sun Hoodie is best used for hot-weather hiking, high-output movement, trail running, thru-hiking, ultralight backpacking, exposed fishing, and long days in direct sun. It is built as a lightweight sun-protection layer for warm, exposed conditions where breathability, quick drying, and comfort matter more than warmth or heavy abrasion resistance.

The Altitude Sun Hoodie weighs around 4 oz, making it one of the lightest sun hoodies in the outdoor market. Its low weight comes from an ultralight 80 GSM polyester fabric designed for breathability and packability.

FUZE™ antimicrobial treatment is a fabric treatment that bonds silver mineral to the polyester fibers. Outdoor Vitals uses it to help reduce bacteria and odor buildup, giving the Altitude Sun Hoodie better odor resistance than a standard untreated synthetic sun shirt.

The Altitude Sun Hoodie has a close, athletic fit. It is designed to sit close to the skin without feeling overly tight or restrictive, which helps the fabric manage moisture and makes it easier to layer under a wind shell, fleece, or insulation layer.

The Altitude Sun Hoodie is durable for its intended use: hiking, backpacking, trail running, travel, and high-output movement. It is not designed for heavy abrasion, bushwhacking, climbing against rock, or repeated snagging against rough surfaces. The tradeoff is intentional: it prioritizes low weight, breathability, and comfort over rugged abrasion resistance.

For many high-output conditions, yes. The Altitude Sun Hoodie is designed to feel cooler than a traditional t-shirt in direct sun because it uses breathable 80 GSM fabric that allows airflow and helps moisture escape while keeping the sun off your skin. It is intended for warm, exposed environments where direct sun can make bare skin or standard cotton layers uncomfortable.

Orders for in-stock items will begin processing 1-2 days after your online purchase is completed. Please note that business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays in the United States. Once processed, Priority shipping generally takes 1-3 days to arrive. Note that USPS Priority shipping is a time estimate and not guaranteed. You will receive an email notification once your package leaves our warehouse.

If you place an order that includes a backordered or pre-sale item, we will hold the entire order until the pre-sale item is in stock. If you would like to receive the in-stock items sooner and split your order into two shipments, please place two separate orders or pay an additional shipping fee to have the order divided into two shipments.

Some countries may be excluded from our shipping options due to extremely high shipping costs, unsafe conditions for US carriers, or unreliable delivery services. To check if we can ship to your country, please go to the Checkout page and enter your shipping address.

Customers have the option to prepay duties and taxes for certain countries. If these fees are not prepaid, customers may be responsible for them upon delivery, depending on the import laws and regulations of their respective countries. *Please note: Clearance items are final sales and are not eligible for returns or exchanges. Items such as soft flasks (included with our Skyline Fastpack) cannot be returned due to sanitary reasons. If you choose to return your fastpack, a $15 charge per bottle or flask will be deducted from your refund, unless the bottles or flasks are returned with their original packaging still intact.

Our warranty covers manufacturing & workmanship defects for the Expected Lifespan of our products. Expected Product Lifespan is determined by OV Gear Specialists using the following criteria:

• The age of the product (based on Manufacture date)
