Summit Down Sleeping Bag

Used the -15 version on a recent trip to the smokies and ended up having to put on my down pants and down coat to stay warm when the temperature got below 10 degrees. I know most bags the rating is survival and comfort is usually 15 degrees warmer but still thought it would have done better.

Well made bag, excellent loft and good insulation placement through the bag. I am 5’ 9” and the regular length bag is about perfect in length. I would recommend the longer bag for anyone taller than 5’ 10”.
The compression sack as a nice roll top dry bag, and is a nice addition. Looking forward to putting this bag through some Alaskan hunting trips this fall.

I have no problem giving 5 stars for this product, but those of you out there that are 6’5” and above just know it’s too small for us. The quality it awesome, just like all other OV products, but I’m 6’5” and 275lb with an athletic build and I can not use this as a sleeping bag. But what it love about it is that because it is a center zip I just unzip it all the way, turn it over, and use it just as I do with a quilt. The hood hooks onto my top shoulder when I sleep on my side perfectly and the bag tucks under me all around and eliminates drafts. For sleeping in a bivy it’s honestly perfect.

After receiving my new bag , I went on a 2 day trip . The temps were supposed to be around 35 degrees. Well it got down to 28 degrees. I was still warm and I am a cold sleeper. I like the center zip.

I have heard nothing but good things about these sleeping bags. Excited to use it when the spring/summer rolls around.

Used a couple times on a backpacking trip with 35 degree lows and for a night of bike packing to see the northern lights on a windy Lake Erie beach with no shelter. Super lightweight & very warm, with a thoughtful design. Thank you for caring about your customers and their outdoor experiences!

I took out my Summit down 30 degree bag for the first time and I was cold. The reason being is that the down shifts and you get cold spots with no insulation. This happened several times while camping and I tried moving the down around so that I could be warmer. OV- you need to an R and D team to look at your bags because they don't perform. Please think twice about getting a sleeping bag as they are missing some standard features.

I’m 5 foot 10 and 180 pounds and with my head in the hood I could barely zip up the zipper. I don’t have that broad of shoulders so that bag was tight. I also think the rating for the temperature might’ve been a bit off. Also, the drawstring cord hangs in your face all night when you got it, fully zipped up and needs to be put somewhere else or reconfigured, anyhow maybe widen that a hair put the drawstring somewhere else

Bought the bag for my wife for a 72 mile hike in Pennsylvania (Quehanna Hiking Trail). The bag is light weight, durable and kept her warm on the trail.

Undoubtedly the most comfiest sleeping bag I have ever owned. Though I bought it for all year round, it's easy to sleep on it during the summer. I am looking forward to sleep in it when it is cold.

Picked up the summit 0 degree sleeping bag I have No complaints, Super warm and lightweight! I would recommend to anyone!

Bought a green 0 degree sleeping bag and it was perfect. I get cold easily and I sleep through wind, rain and, snow without a shiver.

Received the sleeping bag as ordered. I haven't tried it out yet, waiting for summer, so my observations are limited. Sleeping bag is super light. It packs down small and fluffs up big. It comes with a very flimsy feeling stuff bag... it would be great if it came with a compression stuff sack.

I bought my first Summit bag (20 degree) in 2018 and it never let me down in some really cold conditions; I pair it with either hammock/under quilt or the OV insulated pad. I had to use it as a quilt most of the time as it was that warm. What I loved the most was the foot box which was loaded with extra down. My feet not even once got cold and most of the time I had to shed my socks. Unfortunately it does not appear as if OV carried that feature over to the new edition. I used my new 15 degree bag just last night when it got really cold, low 20s or so, and I was shocked to be woken up with frozen feet as I was wearing a thick pair of wool socks. I am impressed with everything else about this new bag but very disappointed with the footbox. I will have to buy a pair of the down footies now to avoid this predicament in the future.

All I have to say is this sleeping bag is awesome 👍

I haven't used it yet... but It seems great. Materials and design seem exceptionally good to me. Add that I got it on clearance... I'm a happy camper!

I purchased to thru hike the AT during the cold temperatures of January, February and March. The bag performance was awesome and I had to peel sleeping layers off to keep from overheating. I had temps in the twenties with sleet and freezing rain. Definitely builds up confidence to embrace the cold suck! Note worthy to add the ordering process and delivery was excellent! Thank you!

I tested out my zero degree bag this past weekend. It got down to 29 and i was plenty warm. I was in a tent with a thermorest pad. I wore heat gear bottoms and a ventice hoody. I ask ov for their thoughts on the sizing. After opening it up and letting the bag fluff up tried it out. At first it looked too small but once zipped up inside it was a nice cocoon of fluffy feathers. I'm glad I didn't size up this bag is perfect.

Love the center zip because you can use it as a quilt also, but if it gets really cold you can zip it up as intended.

I just took it out for a weekend shakedown hike. Ultralight as advertised. It was warmer than I expected for a 30 degree bag. The top zip is new to me and I need to practice getting inside and out from top-middle, but no noted issues with it. As others have stated, BUY A SIZE BIGGER than you normally do. Based on reviews of others, I bought a long and I am glad I did. The long fits like a regular, but I am overall pleased.

What a bag! Almost, yes almost, everything was so right for a center zip. While it was a ‘tad’ shorter than most long bags, it was was too WIDE below the hips. This leads, of course, to wasted materials. I just don’t understand why it was so wide on the lower end. I have had and have about 50 bags, all top known brands, and this was no excuse. I returned it as we all know that you have to warm that dead space that will never be used. All other bags seem to fail at the shoulder and hips. This one failed on the lower end. Other than that, I was impressed with all the other features and the price was more than worthy.

I've wanted a center zip 30° bag for a long time. I'm a side sleeper and it seems nearly all sleeping bags place the side zipper on the wrong side for me. I was encouraged by positive reviews about this sleeping bag and saw that it went on sale, so I made the purchase. Overall the quality is top notch, the down lofts very well and there are no loose threads or construction issues at all. I do have two cons: the zipper system is a bit finicky on mine and the double zippers don't want to mate up properly at the bottom. It took me several minutes to get both zippers properly engaged. I wouldn't want to have to deal with that in the middle of the night. Also, I'm 6'5" tall and this bag seems just a bit short for me - when I stick my head in the hood my feet compress the insulation in the foot box. So it's not as long as I'd hoped to see in a "long" sleeping bag. Taking it out later this month for my first backpack and I hope it performs well.

I went backpacking last weekend and brought my new Summit 15 degree sleeping bag. The bag was comfortable and felt great. Probably the most comfortable bag I've ever owned. It got to around 30 degrees the first night and this bag, with an insulated sleeping pad, kept me warm. The bag is super light. I dropped about 2lbs from my previous bag which made carrying everything that much easier. I'm about 5'10" 220lbs and I bought the long. I made the right choice. The extra room at the bottom was good and the extra width made sleep didn't make me feel claustrophobic. It's an expensive bag but it's a pretty good deal when you consider the cost of other similar bags on the market. My friend spend over $100 more for a similar bag from another company. My only complaint, the zipper is hard to zip up when I'm in it. Once it's up, it stays up and sealed. It is easy to zip up and down when I'm out of it. Just wish the zipper was a little better.

Ordered the regular -15 bag, I'm 5-10 and my feet and head pushed against the bottom and top. Little snug at the shoulders also. Sent it back to try the long version that's 6" longer and 2 inches wider. Should do the trick.

I use this sleeping bag for my hunting and Boyscout outings. This is my 2nd one. I bought the quilt version for my son. Love it! Warm and easy to pack. It's all in the details! Love how they provide you with a storage stuff bag and compression bag! They do care about the user end. I recommend highly! Probably gonna get one now for my daughter. Thank you OV team!

I love this bag already. The zipper in the middle is a great idea and it has changed the game for me and camping in the cold.
