Product Care
Your Summit Down Sleeping Bag is a high performance piece of gear. It needs some extra attention to keep it performing at the highest level.
Please read through the care instructions below to ensure that you care for it properly:
Before Washing
- Always wash your down product completely alone to prevent down migration.
- Never wash your down product in a washing machine that has an agitator.
- If you cannot follow either of these prior instructions you should hand wash your sleeping bag using the detergent and drying process described below.
The Wash & Dry Process
- Use a mild detergent like Dreft (for babies) or Nikwax (for technical gear).
- Choose Low Spin or Delicate wash.
- Choose Cold Wash & Cold Rinse.
- Hang dry until the sleeping bag is completely dry.
- Then loft and redistribute your down insulation in the dryer by running it for 10 minutes on low or no heat with 3 dryer balls.
Long Term Storage
- Do not store down product compressed long term. Long term compression weakens the insulation's ability to loft and therefore insulate.
- We recommend hanging it in your closet or putting it in a pillow case for storage between uses.

HyperDry™ Down
What is HyperDry™ Down insulation?
It's high-performing down that has been DWR treated on a down level for increased water resistance.
If down gets wet, it collapses (loses its loft) & no longer insulates. That's why we use HyperDry™ Down in the Summit Sleeping Bags!
This means you get all the weight & compression benefits of down (that's still what it is) PLUS you get a bit more protection from moisture than standard untreated down.
Differential Cut
What is a differential cut?
It means that the inside fabric is cut smaller than the outside fabric.
When you are inside a sleeping bag, you tend to move around a bit & press up against the inner fabric. A differential cut ensures that you don't compress the insulation inside the sleeping bag, even if your knee, elbow, etc. presses right up against the inner fabric!
This means you get a warmer sleeping bag without cold spots!

Designing the Summit
"Brought the 0 degree on a three night trip to the Adirondacks. Coldest night was around 9 degrees and with the outdoor vitals liner I woke up a few times sweating with only a base layer on. I’m very happy with this bag and would trust it in a lot colder temperatures."
-Levi
"I purchased to thru hike the AT during the cold temperatures of January, February and March. The bag performance was awesome and I had to peel sleeping layers off to keep from overheating. I had temps in the twenties with sleet and freezing rain. Definitely builds up confidence to embrace the cold suck!"
-Frank
"Love the center zip because you can use it as a quilt also, but if it gets really cold you can zip it up as intended."
-Jack
"I went backpacking last weekend and brought my new Summit 15 degree sleeping bag. The bag was comfortable and felt great. Probably the most comfortable bag I've ever owned. It got to around 30 degrees the first night and this bag, with an insulated sleeping pad, kept me warm. The bag is super light. I dropped about 2lbs from my previous bag which made carrying everything that much easier."
-Bobby
Anatomical Shape
Ever had cold feet? Our footbox is shaped to match the natural splay of your feet when you're lying down. This also optimizes warmth without extra space to heat up, & allows you to lay comfortably in a natural position.
Differential Cut
The inside fabric is cut smaller than the outside fabric.
A differential cut ensures that you don't compress the insulation inside the sleeping bag, even if your knee, elbow, etc. presses right up against the inner fabric!
HyperDry™ Down
HyperDry Down from Allied Feather is 800 fill power down that was been DWR treated on a down level for increased water resistance.
Pillow Style Draft Collar
No more cinch cords around your throat. These pillow baffles can be stuffed anywhere you want to keep you cozy & warm.
Center Zip
This unique zipper placement not only makes it easy to get in & out of the sleeping bag, but also allows you to easily vent by using the secondary zipper slider.
More Reliable Warmth On Trail
Our unique design, excellent down, & DWR treatments give you a bag that will stay lofted & warm - even when facing condensation or moisture
