Ventus- named from the Latin origin word for ‘wind’, this lightweight insulated active hoodie vents incredibly well all while maintaining its static insulation properties.
The Ventus Active Hoodie brings a new meaning to "ultralight backpacking". No longer do you have to sacrifice warmth to get a lower pack weight! This hoodie is something you'll have with you whether you're backpacking, biking, traveling, snowshoeing, or during any other part of your active lifestyle!
Utilizing innovative 3DeFX Insulation we were able to create a hoodie that weighs only half of what other traditional insulated hoodies weigh while retaining high warmth value and active body-mapped breathability! Both the 3DeFX insulation and durable Ripstop Nylon fabric of the hoodie stretch with you as you move. This causes tiny coils (much like trampoline springs) to expand- allowing more heat to escape and the hoodie to breathe with you when you need it. When the hoodie fabric and insulation isn't being stretched with your motion, these coils contract and create an incredible amount of loft and warmth! This means you'll be able to stay comfortable regardless of your activity levels!
Active breathability is further enhanced by targeted & body-mapped placement of insulation and fabrics. The uninsulated underarms are perforated for targeted ventilation in the hottest part of your torso.
An unobtrusive insulated hood and lightweight coating on the exterior fabric give the Ventus Active Hoodie the ability to also act as a great wind breaker with amazing temperature control!
A hidden inner pocket allows you to easily pack up the Ventus for storage in a pack or luggage when you aren't using it. You can compress this hoodie down to the size of a softball, so between the ultralight weight and amazing packability, you'll have no problem taking this with you on any adventure. You'll never be left high and dry without a warm layer again!
Start experiencing the outdoors more light and comfortable now with the newest game-changing insulated hoodie available! No more compromising, stay at a comfortable temperature anywhere and on any type of adventure!

3DeFX Technology
Four types of spiral-shaped fibers are intertwined to give 3DeFX insulation more loft and stretchability than traditional microfiber synthetic insulations. This insulation stretches with you as you move, allowing heat to escape & keeping you at the perfect temperature!
Basically what this means is that you get a warmer insulation that weighs less & helps regulate temperature.

"Have you ever tried baking croissants? If not, just know that sometimes you need the perfect recipe and plenty of experience to succeed. In this case, the Outdoor Vitals Ventus Active Hoodie is our croissant."

"...it’s been an awesome performer for cold morning trail running in a variety of temperatures from 25-40 degrees. The vented armpits breathe well and the whole jacket moves perfectly with every motion."

"Whether you’re on the hunt for “one midlayer to rule them all” or just looking for another awesome lightweight layer to add to the collection, I’d definitely recommend giving the Ventus a try. "

"This is currently my favorite mid-to-outer layer jacket, which I can wear in pretty much any situation where I want to keep warm but also regulate temperature."

3DeFX™ Insulation
Utilizing the new innovative3DeFX Insulationwe were able to create a hoodie that weighs only half of what other traditional insulated hoodies weigh while retaining high warmth value and active body-mapped breathability!

More Warmth, Less Weight
Weighing just 7 oz, the Ventus is warmer than any traditional cotton or fleece hoodie.
At the same time it's also incredibly breathable when you need that instead!
"The Ventus fits me absolutely perfectly, like it was tailored to me! INCREDIBLE piece of clothing and unlike anything else that I own. The quality is impeccable! I wish I had had it on Friday when I went snowshoeing, because it's actually perfect for situations like that where you're sweaty but the wind and air are really cold and you don't just want to be in your thin wool under layer.
-Franziska (Hike Oregon)
"The cut is amazing. I'm a fairly 'lanky' guy at ' and with fairly long arms, so I find that most tops end up being either too boxy in the torso or too short in the arms. You absolutely nailed the cut for my body portions."
-Jeff (Jeff Pelletier)
"I've been really impressed with the performance! So much so that I've begun reconsidering bringing a down puffy on future trips and instead just using the Ventus! So far I've tested it in temperatures from 40F to 20F in all sorts of various wind conditions. I've been amazed by its ability to shed wind and insulate (especially for its weight and compactibility!)"
-Jesse (Backcountry Forward)
"I unpacked it in front of my sister and the first thing I said was 'It's so light!' I honestly hadn't expected it to feel so light. The packability aspect is also a huge plus. It's compact when tucked into the pocket and obviously can pack down even more once packed into a backpack. Aesthetically it is a cool looking piece of gear that is also highly functional, ultra lightweight and comfortable. I'm impressed."

Pretty nice layer which adds a little warmth, breathes well, and dries quickly. However the lack of pockets at this price point is a serious disappointment.
I have worn this only as an outer layer on summer day hikes at altitude (10k+) when the temps drop and wind pucks up. It has served well as wind jacket and light rain jacket.
It packs reasonably compactly into its inner stretch pocket, so tucks away into a daypack or lumbar pack as emergency layer.
The pit vents seem to help with moisture and cooling when temps rise a bit.
The fit is almost two sizes small. Every other outdoor garment I wear (and I have many from MH, NF, Marmot, Orvis, OR, et al.) is a medium. OV’s size guide says I should order XL. I bought an L instead. It fits snugly over just a t-shirt or lightweight hoodie.
Not sure the exterior material would survive rock abrasion on climbs or heavy bushwhacking, but it does fine on trail hikes, under shoulder straps, and other ordinary use.
Best hoodie for camping and backpacking. It’s lite, packs easy, and very breathable. Bought one for my son too.
Already did and they purchased for upcoming trip to Yellowstone
I'm 6'1" 230 big chest ,wear extra large top but orderd 2x,fit great not loose not tight. Very warm like a coat, I'm sure I can hike in the teens easy! But 35to40 I'd be hot great mid layer for most people for me to warm
