Packs Into Own Pocket: Easily transport or store the jacket in it's own left pocket! Simply flip the pocket inside out while stuffing the jacket inside, and zip closed. Use it when you need it, and pack it away when you don't! Also use the jacket as a pillow when it's packed away!

High Neck: Stay warm by sealing in the heat around your neck! When zipped up fully, the LoftTek Adventure Jacket goes all the way up to your chin for warmth and comfort.

Underarm Vents: If you start getting too warm but it's still cold out, you can unzip the underarm vents and immediately release heat to stabilize your temperature.

Insulated, 2-Way Adjustable Hood: No matter which direction you turn your head, you can keep the hood out of your peripherals and see clearly by adjusting the fit of the hood to your head.

Adjustable Hem: Lock in heat by fitting the hem of the jacket to your hips and waist. No need to worry about cord ends hanging down, excess cord will be stored in the front pockets!

Water Repellent Shell: The treated shell makes it difficult to get the jacket wet. Water just beads up and rolls off! If the jacket does get wet, the insulation stays lofted and continues to insulate.

Insulated, Zippered Pockets: Keep your hands warm in the insulated pockets. When combined with the thumbholes, you're hands will stay cozy! Also keep your valuables from being lost by zipping them securely into these pockets!

Athletic Fit & Drop Back: The athletic cut and drop back of the jacket keep you looking great no matter where you are. The drop back allows you to sit while keeping your rear and back fully covered.

Thumbholes: Keep your hands warm while still using your fingers and thumbs by using the reinforced thumbholes in the sleeves!

Product Care

Your Regulator jacket is a high performance piece of gear. It needs some extra attention to keep it performing at the highest level.

Please read through the care instructions below to ensure that you care for it properly:

Before Washing

  • Always wash your Regulator completely alone to prevent down migration.
  • Never wash your Regulator in a washing machine that has an agitator.
  • If you cannot follow either of these prior instructions you should hand wash your jacket using the detergent and drying process described below.

The Wash & Dry Process

  1. Use a mild detergent like Dreft (for babies) or Nikwax (for technical gear).
  2. Choose Low Spin or Delicate wash.
  3. Choose Cold Wash & Cold Rinse.
  4. Hang dry until the jacket is completely dry.
  5. Then loft and redistribute your down insulation in the dryer by running it for 10 minutes on low or no heat with 3 dryer balls.

I am a big fan-boy of Outdoor Vitals and when my son needed a winter jacket for school, I knew just the one to get him...the UL Regulator! He really enjoys the jacket, has fun with the pit zips/thumbs loops, and is told often how great of a fit it is on him. OV gear is both great for the back-country and the front-country.

Love the looks of this jacket! Got a great price and I always order clothing from Outdoor Vitals larger than I need because they normally are an atheletic fit. This is just slightly larger than a normal 2X for me and will fit perfect with one layer underneath.

Lightest, most versatile, and warmest(considering its weight) coat I own. I’ve purchased two of these for myself and three for gifts. They would all agree too, it’s their go to winter coat. Keeps me warm even in the rain!

Awesome puffy!

So far, I love my Regulator Down jacket. I have yet to test it out on the trail or really low temperatures, however on chilly forays and late evening walks it keeps me cozy and comfortable. Pit zips are a big factor and I’ve found it will pack down into a very minimal size to fit in my backpack easily!

Jacket has a terrible odor

When I got my jacket there was a strange wet dog odor. I thought maybe it was the inside of the package. So I washed the jacket per the instructions on the tag. Still has the animal odor. I called the company I purchased jacket from and they reached out to Vital Outdoors. Vital Outdoors said, you washed it already not our problem anymore. Really nice considering the YouTube video presentation, Vital Outdoors promotes a lifetime guarantee. It's not just me, there is another person in the comment section here who had the same odor. The jacket stinks so bad like a wet dog.

Can't wait for cold weather!

Really nice jacket. Love the green color. I'm 5 ft 3 and 110 lb and the small fits with a little room to spare for layers underneath. I can really only review the jacket as far as its appearance goes and fit because it's warm now and have not had a chance to try it in colder temperatures. I will review it's performance once the temperatures cool down and I can wear it. On a side note, Outdoor Vitals customer service is fantastic!

My favorite puffy!

I just bought my second of these in a different color because I love my first one so much! It's light, warm, packs small and it's super comfy. The fit is on point, quality is excellent and now I can never own a puffy without pit zips and thumb holes again! My only gripe is the zipper pulls are just cheap cord but I bought some different ones for $6 on Amazon (which I often do to add some custom color) and problem solved. I sold my much more expensive jackets in favor of this one. Love this jacket and highly recommend it and Outdoor Vitals in general.

Great for all temps and moisture levels

I picked this up for an insulated work jacket to wear at my frequent outdoor times at my auto parts job. Great way to layer up and keep dry. Love the thumbholes to snug down the sleeves and keep hands a bit warmer but keeping them freed up for max dexterity. So far, great jacket. Hoping it keeps me toasty all winter.

Great puffer.

Really great puffer. Well designed and built. All of the features that I was looking for, all under a pound! Super happy with this jacket.

Good jacket with one major flaw

Very warm jacket for the weight. Deal breaker though is there is a strong goose smell.

Loses Too Many Feathers

I have owned this jacket for about 2 months now. My main issue is that it loses feathers way too easily. I only wear it to work or around town and every time I where it, feathers are coming out. As a result I would not even think about wearing this hiking or camping. I do not know whether or not this was just a defect as it sounds like no one else has this issue. In terms of warmth, it is nothing spectacular either. Two pros, however, is that it is very lightweight and it fits well.
Given how much this loses feathers I will most likely not risk purchasing a different OV product in fear that the rest of the products are not high quality as well.

Best bang for the buck

Been looking for a warmer jacket to replace my Mont -bel down favorite that I've had for years. When I looked at all the hooded jackets out there I just couldn't do better than Outdoor Vitals for price and features no matter how hard I tried. Easily every jacket I looked at was at least 100-300 dollars more for roughly the same amount of down fill and warmth that OV provided.

Love the thumb holes which not only keep the vital wrist area warmer but also serve to hold the sleeve up while you unzip the pit zips. The hood is of a good fit and when tightened rolls with your head in unison. Taking a walk in the steady light rain didn't seem to faze the jacket either. Granted it was not intended to be a rain jacket but every Mountaineer knows gear will have a brush with water at some point in time. Being not fully waterproof proves to me that the jacket does breathe well and shows its designed to be a mid layer part of kit. Thumbs up to the OV tribe on this one . The jacket does hang low in the back which when reaching upward still shelters the vital kidney area so that base is covered quite nicely. So far its been on three hikes in the back country with temps ranging in the 30's. I don't wear it while hiking but do so when stopped .

To help others I'm 5 feet 8 inches tall with an athletic build and broad shoulders. OV has an Athletic fit which for me would be normally size large. i ordered Xtra large and it fits perfectly .

Ov limits my further comments on review.

Cold temps

Just returned from a trip to Aspen. Temps ran from 38F down to -3F. Winds were variable but below 15 mph. I wore the Regulator jacket with various layers. Warmest was Ventus hoodie with a light wicking long sleeve tee base. I was absolutely comfortable in all conditions. It takes a little experimenting to know what to layer, but I looked at many puffy jackets and for the price I just don’t see how you can beat this jacket. Keep in mind I was not backpacking. But I was walking a lot. And I was impressed with how well the hoods work together with the Ventus and the Regulator. Every time the wind came up I was wearing those hoods and they are remarkable…unlike most hooded jackets I’ve tried.. As others have said, it pays to size up at least one size if you even think you will layer. Also, I like loose fitting clothes. But I was very happy with the slightly snug fit in the colder temps. It seems to prevent a lot of infiltration of outside air. We were on the airplane headed home yesterday and I stuffed my jacket in its pocket. My wife was impressed. She used it as a pillow on the airplane. So here’s my overall take on Outdoor Vitals. They are a bunch of skinny jocks who don’t really understand that most of us need a little larger room around the middle. I own a bunch of their clothing and that’s the only negative thing I can say. Good company, trying hard and putting serious thought and research into their products. And their prices are very reasonable.

Super warm jacket. Took it to big bear after a recent snow fall was absolutely warm in this jacket with just a regular shirt underneath. Super light and comfortable.

Unbeatable value purchased on sale!!!

I really wanted the Nova pro in blue. The only color available in XXXL was smoke. The Regulator was available and on sale. My membership saved me an additional 10%. I couldn't pass that up so I got one in green. It's a lighter, forest green than what's is pictured but looks good. I haven't needed to layer the Jacket yet, but it fits over my XXXL Ventus Hoodie perfectly. I was very comfortable on a 30° morning with this and my dragonwool hoodie snow camping. Last weekend the Regulator worked great for me at 40°, moderate wind, and heavy mist with just a t-shirt underneath durring a fishing trip. It did not absorb any water. It's an athletic cut, if you research before your purchase you will know that. If your a large person size up. I am 6 ft 5, 250lb. It fits snugly, but it's not tight and the Loft is not compressed. I don't have any problems with the garment length and I can use the thumb holes without stretching sleeves. It really fits me like a glove. When the conditions get wet or very windy my Outdoor Research XXL Motive Ascent Shell covers the sleeves and hood completely. You might be able to find a slightly better jacket, but you will at least double the price. This jacket is unbeatable in price vs value purchased on sale. I'll be waiting patiently for the blue XXXL Nova Pro to be back in stock.

Tight for a full sized guy.

Jacket came quickly and I liked the quality. I have been wearing XXL size for years with no issues. I read the reviews an they indicated the jacket ran small. I ordered a xxxl to be safe and it fit me like an xl. I just drove to REI and their jacks in XXL fit me perfect. So I order one.

BTW-My return went great. "Easy" within a few days I got full credit, so I ordered some new stuff (pants and sleeping pad). Yes wide and long. LoL

Very nice BUT

This is a very nice jacket. This is a good outer layer. Very lightweight. I love the thumb holes. Quality looks great. My only knock is sizing. This jacket runs small. I ordered a 2xl and it was too small. Great customer service by OV exchanged it for me no problem.

Greatness

I received my jacket in a timely manner, I usually wear a large but order XL black, it fits perfectly. I live in Texas doesn’t get very cold, but when it does I have a go to jacket. All I need is a base layer keeps nicely warm. I have mostly satisfied with this jacket, I also own a LoftTek Adventure Jacket from Outdoor Vitals and to say they’re the best!!!

Perfect combination of warmth and bulk

Living in mild-Texas cold weather, this has been the perfect amount of warmth, and arm zippers are a must for all my jackets. I usually size down to a medium jacket (6ft 185lb) to reduce bulk (as I use a regular large T-shirt) but I went with the large and it was actually a perfect fit. So probably size up to XL if you wear a large jacket normally. I will be buying my future winter camp gear from this company. Great value and really appreciate the research this team does to make their products. Give me a fitted gortex-like shell to pair up or solo for the rain around here.

Ultralight regulator down is solid

Starting with the positives:
It's really light. Good luck finding something this light at this price that is still warm.
Good warmth for how light it is
Nice athletic fit
Pit zips (heck yeah)
Good hood fit
Packs pretty small
Did I mention It's light and warm?
Dries out really really fast
Pretty warm still when it's wet
Some not positives:
The cuffs aren't that comfy (they aren't stiff, but they aren't soft)
The color of the green coat doesn't look like the pictures. The pictures show a dark rich green. The actual jacket is still a nice green, but it's not as dark and rich.
Had an issue with the stitching on the one I ordered. BUT, I sent it back and they promptly replaced it.

For the money, I doubt you'll find a better light jacket.

Good jacket

These are good jackets. I like the armpit zippers to let some air in. It keeps me warm, and fits nicely. Only con is that the black jacket that I ordered looks a little navy blue (even my wife noticed the slight blueness to the jacket).

Incredibly warm

Wasn’t sure I wanted a hooded down jacket but all the other features thumb hole, pit zips, warmth, weight, hoodie draw chord all at that price made this jacket a keeper.

Had to replace a marmot $200 jacket that was snowing down fill every time you touched it. This jacket performs at a much higher price point than OV charges.

Did run a bit smaller than usual brands but it’s true to the OV size chart.

Runs Small

Had to go up a size from the Lofttek I have due to the athletic cut. I would like to see measurements for the midsection in the future to prevent having to return and reorder in the future.
