CS40 - Hip Belt
The large sized belt works great. Thank you for the quick response and delivery. Also I like the quick interchangeable feature.
I bought the CS-40 hip belt for my KotaUL backpack for my 3-month trek in Italy. It fit perfectly and I really like the strap tightening technology as well as the two zipper pouches. Great upgrade!
XL belt on my new shadow60
I am only giving it 4 stars because I purchased it to use on my KotaUL travel backpack. I did so because the KotaUl waste belt is too small for me. Outdoor Vitals customer service did graciously send me parts to make an extension but the belt is too small. The CS40 fits the Kota and is a little bulkier and heavier but a lot more comfortable. I keep it in my pack until needed. Plus it has pockets on the belt.
Used the CS40 Small belt on my OV Shadowlight pack. Swapping the belts was easy. Fit well and comfortably.
Some things I prefered on the shadowlight belt (size M) over the cs40 belt (size S):
1. Position of the tightening straps on the shadowlight are a bit better. It's a bit awkward on the CS40 belt since it was already a close to snug fit on my waist at max size.
2. Pocket sizes. The pockets on the SL belt were bigger. Could fit a smartphone and many bars and snacks comfortably, which are crucial for maps and nutrition on long distance hikes. I understand the change from M to S might warrant the smaller pocket sizes, but I think small humans still have the same size phone and snacks as everyone else.
I can now use my OV backpack! The size small hip belt was too large so my shoulders were left packing thenload.
Easy to install. Helpful to customize to my size and needs. I like that it's removable.
Just returned from a short trip on the AT with my new hip belt attached to my CS40 backpack. Absolutely awesome! I actually forgot I was wearing my backpack while hiking because it’s so comfortable now that I have the right hip belt. 5 STARS! I cannot wait to see what other great things come from Outdoor Vitals!

Could I use this belt on my Shadowlight pack. That hip belt is just one inch webbing and I am a larger individual who is looking to use the Shadowlight pack as and day back to hike the grand canyon.
The CS40 Hip Belt is compatible with our original Shadowlight Backpack, but hasn't been designed or tested for compatibility with our Shadowlight Carbon 60 Backpack.
hey there. shopping for a backpack for my daughter. she'san adult, 4'11, 105 lbs, 23-24" waist, 14-15 torso. was looking at the shadowlight 60 short with the cs40 xs belt, but i don' think the belt is small enough. thoughts? need something for multi day trips

Comfort is definately a very important factor when choosing a pack. Specially on multi-day backpacking trips. I would recomend the Shadowlight Carbon 60 with a XS Carbon Evo 50 belt. The suspension systems on those two packs are practically the same. I went ahead and measured out a XS hipbelt and your daughter should have no issues with its fitment.
Is this the same hipbelt as for the Shadowlight Carbon?
