Product Care

Your Nebo Windbreaker is a high performance piece of gear. It needs some extra attention to keep it performing at the highest level.

Please read through the care instructions below to ensure that you care for it properly:

Do NOT expose to bug spray containing oils or DEET. DEET will destroy synthetic fabrics. Bug spray and other things containing oils will not destroy synthetic fabric, but they will discolor your Nebo.

Before Washing

  • Never wash your jacket in a washing machine that has an agitator.
  • Your jacket has zippers - please zip them up completely to prevent snagging during the washing process.
  • If you cannot follow either of these prior instructions you should hand wash your product

The Wash & Dry Process

  1. Use Nikwax Tech Wash (for technical gear).
  2. Choose Low Spin or Delicate wash.
  3. Choose Cold Wash & Cold Rinse (add extra rinse if possible).
  4. Hang dry until the product is completely dry.

I haven't had an opportunity to try out my new Nebo so haven't given a rating but would like to see a long size like you offer in the Ventus.

Ultralight and Ultra Useless

Tested on the western slope of the Colorado Rockies at 8,000 feet.
Conditions: 43 degrees, wind 7-10mph off snowpack blowing down valley, heavy overcast.
About a mile into the hike, the windward side of me was freezing to the point I removed the Nebo and put on the cheap rain jacket I've carried for years. The cheap rain jacket warmed me and I felt no cold on the windward side. My internal layer was a flannel shirt for hikes which generally range 20-55 degrees in the mountains.

I can only guess the Nebo was tested in conditions above 50 degrees. I will stick with my 14 ounce rain jacket and donate the Nebo to the local resale shop--too expensive to just trash.

Love it! So light ans blocks the wind here in Montana! I ordered a size up so I could put it over my puffy if needed. Winner

Awesome windbreaker!

My Nebo windbreaker is the perfect addition to my pack, very packable, we just hiked the Loyalsock trail, with a mid merino wool layer and the Nebo jacket. I was very comfortable hiking or standing around at camp.

Good ultralight windbreaker

I've come around to believe that its worth owning both raincoat and windbreaker. If the forecast is for little or no chance of rain, I'll go with this windbreaker. Otherwise their UL raincoat goes in. Both are light, but the windbreaker has the advantage of being a bit lighter, packing smaller, and most importantly it breaths well despite keeping wind out.

I live near the OV store and so I went in and tried on the jacket. Athletic sizing seems about right; I typically by a large if I lean toward tighter fit or XL if looser. I opted for the XL so that a base layer and wool vest could fit underneath and yet not have much wind flap. There is a slight bit of stretch to the fabric and that helps if the fit is on the tighter side. The hood, cuffs, and waist elastic seem good for now; time will tell how long it takes for it to stretch out.

I've used it for 3 short windy day hikes and 3 rides in the few weeks I've owned it. Its best quality is that it easily fits into your pack, even a small fanny pack or bike bag, and gives you quite a bit of protection from wind and cool temps. Best use so far is putting it on for big downhill descents on the bike after getting hot and sweaty on the climb. See photo below, XL jacket fits in brown feed bag next to large bike bottle.
