What if hammocks & suspensions systems didn't have to weight 2+ pounds? Well, they don't! The new Outdoor Vitals Ultralight Solo Hammock packages together the lightest weight suspension system with premium materials to offer a 14 oz (.88 pound) full hammock system!

Many people are switching to hammock camping to save weight, but don't realize that if you don't buy the right hammock system, they might not be saving weight at all. The goal of any camper should be to shave weight when they can to enjoy the outdoors more.

The new Outdoor Vitals Ultralight Solo Hammock does just that. weighing in under a pound and taking up only 7 x 4 inches in your pack, you hardly even know you have it with you! This is by design. We designed the hammock system to utilize the strongest, lightest fabrics possible. Dyneema™ rope is widely known for it's extreme strength to weight ratios. Threading this into a whoopie sling creates the perfect mix of ultralight and fully adjustable! The polyester seat belt fabric tree huggers are low impact for any trees your hanging from, but remain extremely tough to handle the bark of some of those old trees. Aluminum carabiners were sourced specifically for their strength to weight ratios and allow for easy setup. Nylon ripstop fabric offers extreme strength and comfort which allows us to cut even more weight! All of this stuffs easily into the attached stuff sack (including the suspension)!

Here at Outdoor Vitals, we believe that you should get what you pay for. That means receiving a quality product that won’t come apart after a few uses. For that reason and to guarantee to our customers that we stand behind our quality, we back all of our products with a lifetime guarantee on the craftsmanship of the product! We recommend checking with your local customs office to find out if these apply in your country. The cost of International shipping is $60USD and $40USD for Canada.

What are your bags temperature ratings?

We have not had our sleeping bags tested for European EN ratings. EN ratings are a standard that measures a bag's Comfort Rating / Lower Limit / and Extreme rating. Based on feedback and use we estimate that our sleeping bags ratings are closest to the middle "Lower Limit" rating also often referred to as the Men’s rating. Thus, a 20° rated bag will be comfortable for the average man at about 20° outside.

What temperature rating should I choose?

A lot of factors can affect how warm a person is at night. For example body fat, clothing worn, your tent, your sleeping pad (don't overlook this; the pad is a critical part of your insulation), metabolism, humidity, how windy it is, how acclimated you are to cold weather, etc. External factors can make a big difference. If the rating you’ve chosen just isn’t adequate for you and the conditions you sleep in, you can exchange the bag within 30 days of purchase or return it for a refund, so it’s important to try out your new quilt as soon as you receive it to ensure that it’s suited to your needs.

Do you sell spare Pad straps or stuff sacks?

Unfortunately, we do not currently produce spare stuff sacks or Pad straps.

Do you do any custom work?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer any custom work.

I am 6 feet tall. Do I need the 6’6” length?

You might be able to get away with using the 6’ bag if you are up to 6’ ½”. Anything over that, you might feel a bit snug in the 6’ length. The same rule applies to the short 5’6” size. If you are more than a ½” beyond that, you probably will want to size up.

What is the difference between Stormloft and Standard Insulation?

The storm loft insulation is our most up to date insulation offered, the difference is that it is RDS Sourced (responsibly sourced), is 3rd party verified/guaranteed to have 800+Fill power or better, and has been treated to be water resistant to the down level, so not only is the shell water resistant, but so is the down inside of the bag. The standard insulation is still a good option however it does not have the same certifications as the new storm loft and has not been treated to the down level for water resistance. If it gets damp, the water resistant down will be able to maintain loft easier compared to the untreated down. Please keep in mind that this down is not water-proof or comparable to synthetic insulation. If it gets soaked, the down will not loft properly or insulate until dry.

The Stormloft down can be useful for people who:

  • Do a lot of camping in damp/rainy climates.
  • Spend a lot of consecutive nights in cold temperatures where the dew point of their perspiration may be reached inside the insulation. In other words, the vapor from your body condenses to liquid as it is moving from the inside of the quilt, and then cannot pass through the shell fabric of the bag. Typically, this is not an issue above freezing, and generally not a concern unless you’ve been out for 4-5 nights without a chance to dry your bag.
