The storm loft insulation is our most up to date insulation offered, the difference is that it is RDS Sourced (responsibly sourced), is 3rd party verified/guaranteed to have 800+Fill power or better, and has been treated to be water resistant to the down level, so not only is the shell water resistant, but so is the down inside of the bag. The standard insulation is still a good option however it does not have the same certifications as the new storm loft and has not been treated to the down level for water resistance. If it gets damp, the water-resistant down will be able to maintain loft easier compared to the untreated down. Please keep in mind that this down is not water-proof or comparable to synthetic insulation. If it gets soaked, the down will not loft properly or insulate until dry.
